About me

Tarik Smajlović

Web developer and SEO specialist

I build websites and SEO systems for local service firms. This page says how I got here, how I work, and what to expect before you get in touch.

How I started

I came to the web through programming.

Computers and the digital world interested me for as long as I can remember, and marketing came with them: why one offer lands and an identical one does not.

I fell for programming at twelve. I went to competitions and learned more than school asked for, because it was more interesting to me than anything else.

Programming led me to the web, and the web led me to SEO. The order was natural: once a site is up, the next question is why nobody finds it.

So today I work both ends of the same job. A site nobody finds and a visit that never becomes an enquiry are the same mistake in different places.

Why local service firms

With them a top result comes sooner, because search competition is shallower, so the same effort shows a measurable difference earlier. That is a choice, not a limit: I do not turn larger firms away, but this is where I see the fastest return on what a client pays.

How I work

What to expect.

The way I work is the same whatever the size of the job.

  • One client, one contact

You talk to the person doing the work. No messages passed along, no waiting while someone asks the developer what is possible.

  • Two projects at a time, at most

That is as many as I can run during a build and still give each one attention. If both places are taken, you get a start date, not a promise.

  • I write the copy, you supply the facts

You do not get an empty site with instructions to fill it yourself. I ask you what only you know, write the rest, and bring it back for review.

  • Bosnian and English

Bosnian also covers Croatian and Serbian, since the difference is in the dialect. Correspondence, meetings and documentation run in one of those two languages.

Working hours

Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 20:00

I do not work weekends.

Response time

Within one working day.

Position

Four things I do not negotiate.

  • The client owns everything

Domain, hosting and access are in your name, not mine. Ownership that depends on the contractor is not ownership, it is dependency.

  • No invented numbers

Not one result on this site is something I cannot show. That is why the projects carry no figures yet: they wait on Search Console data and client permission.

  • The price is public

The price list is on the site before you contact me. A quote calculated from how a client looks is not a quote, it is a guess at what they can pay.

  • A site without measurement is guesswork

Without data on what people search for and where they drop off, every change is a matter of taste. Measurement is why the second version beats the first.

Tools

What I build with, and why.

The tool is chosen by who will edit the content and what the site has to withstand, not by what I happen to prefer.

WordPress
When you edit the content yourself and it matters that anyone can work on the site later. The price of that is regular maintenance, since plugins and core must be updated.
Next.js
When speed and control matter more than the number of plugins. This site is built that way, so you can measure it before you trust me with yours.
WooCommerce and Shopify
Two foundations for selling, chosen by who runs stock and payments. The decision is made before the start, because moving later is hard.
Search Console
The source that shows what people actually type and which pages lose ground. Without it, SEO is an opinion rather than work.

The list is deliberately short. A tool I used once is not a reference.

Proof

Live systems.

Clients use them every day. What the job was and what level of work it took is on the projects page.

Next step

If this suits you.

The first step is a free audit. I look at your site, record a walkthrough and send a list of what to fix first, with no obligation.
